Privacy Policy (Version 1.1 - updated 09-09-2026)
Website and Platform Privacy Policy. Knova Enterprises, LLC, a Florida limited liability company ("KNOVA," "we," "us," or "our"), operates www.knovalocal.com and its KNOVA local directory, connection, account, and list-sharing features (the "Website" or "Platform").
This Privacy Policy (the "Policy") explains how KNOVA collects, uses, discloses, and retains personal information in connection with the Website and related inquiries, accounts, subscriptions, and support communications. It applies to visitors without accounts, persons seeking local services ("Inquirers"), registered account holders, and subscribing local service providers ("Providers"). A Provider is an independent business listed on the Platform; a "vendor" in this Policy is a company engaged to provide functions for KNOVA. These are different roles. Using the Website acknowledges this Policy, but does not replace any consent or opt-out mechanism required by applicable law.
Information You Provide. You may browse and contact Providers without creating an account. Depending on how you use the Platform, you may provide your name, email, phone number, location or service address, service category, inquiry details, and communications. Creating, saving, or sharing provider lists requires an account; account information includes login credentials and the lists and sharing choices you create. A subscribing Provider may supply business identity, public contact information, service areas, service descriptions, qualifications, license or insurance information, profile images, and subscription and billing details. Payment information is processed using the payment methods and payment processor presented at checkout; KNOVA uses the billing and transaction information made available to it to administer the subscription. Do not submit government identification numbers, medical details, financial-account credentials, or other unnecessary sensitive information in inquiries, profiles, or lists.
We also use automatically collected information to provide local search results, operate accounts and requested features, understand navigation, improve performance, secure the Website, prevent fraud, and, where the applicable tools are used and lawful choices are provided, measure or personalize advertising. No account is necessary for some automatic collection to occur.
Automatic Information Collection. When you access, and use our Website, it may use technology to automatically collect:
- Usage Details. We may collect pages and listings viewed, search categories and locations, contact-action events, logs, referring pages, dates and times, and interactions with Website features. We do not receive the contents of a direct off-Platform call or conversation merely because you obtained a Provider's contact details from the Website.
- Device and Location Information. We may collect IP address, browser and operating-system information, device or cookie identifiers, and approximate location derived from an IP address or the area you enter. A service address you provide can identify a property precisely. If a feature offers device-based precise location, we request permission before obtaining it and use it for the location feature you request. Merely browsing does not authorize access to your device's contacts or microphone.
Use and Sharing of Personal Information. KNOVA uses information to operate the directory, show local Provider results, maintain accounts, save and share lists as directed, deliver requested inquiries, manage subscriptions and payments, respond to support requests, maintain security, comply with law, and exercise legal rights. "Personal information" includes information reasonably linked to a person, household, or device, including online identifiers where applicable; it is not limited to names or other directly identifying information.
Inquiries and Independent Providers. When you submit a request to contact a Provider, KNOVA discloses the inquiry and contact information needed to respond to the Provider or Providers identified to you for that request. KNOVA does not give every Subscriber access to your private account or lists solely because it subscribes. Information you send directly to a Provider, or that KNOVA sends at your direction, is handled by that Provider for its own business purposes. Providers are not KNOVA's employees or data-processing vendors merely because they appear on the Platform. Review a Provider's privacy practices before sharing sensitive information. A request to KNOVA cannot by itself delete information held independently by a Provider.
Public Profiles and Shared Lists. Provider profiles are intended for public display and may be seen or indexed by visitors and search engines. Lists you create are used for your saved-list features and disclosed according to your sharing action and the visibility described in the feature, not simply because you created an account. Information shared through a public page or link can be copied or forwarded by recipients. Removing a list, profile, or link from KNOVA does not retract copies or cached versions outside KNOVA's control. Do not include private customer, household, property, or third-party contact information in publicly displayed material without authority.
Vendors and Communications. We may disclose information to vendors for hosting, account operation, customer support, payment processing, security, analytics, and marketing support, as needed for their functions and subject to appropriate contractual restrictions. We use contact information to respond to requests and send service, subscription, billing, and security notices. Marketing communications and advertising-related disclosures are subject to applicable consent and opt-out rights. Submitting a phone number or using the Platform does not itself constitute consent to automated or prerecorded marketing calls or marketing texts. A Provider must obtain any consent independently required for its own marketing. KNOVA does not authorize vendors to use identifiable private inquiry or list content for their unrelated purposes.
Legal and Safety Disclosures. We may disclose information as reasonably necessary to comply with law or valid legal process, respond to lawful governmental requests, investigate security incidents or fraud, protect rights or safety, establish or defend legal claims, or enforce agreements. Disclosures remain subject to applicable legal limitations.
How Personal Information Is Protected. KNOVA maintains reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, acquisition, loss, misuse, alteration, and disclosure, taking into account the nature of the information and the circumstances of its processing. However, no method of transmission over the Internet, electronic storage, or security system is completely secure, and KNOVA cannot guarantee the absolute security of personal information. If you believe that your personal information has been compromised or is being used in a manner inconsistent with this Policy, please contact us at support@knovalocal.com.
Children's Privacy. The Platform is intended for persons at least eighteen (18) years old. KNOVA does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18 through an account or inquiry. If we learn of such collection, we will take appropriate steps to delete it, subject to applicable law. If you believe a child, particularly a child under 13, has provided information, contact support@knovalocal.com. We do not knowingly sell or share personal information of persons under 16 for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Authentication Technologies. We may use session or authentication tokens to keep an account signed in, recognize authorized access, and support security. These identifiers may be personal information when linked to you or your device. Protect shared devices and sign out when appropriate.
Aggregated and De-identified Information. We may use aggregated or properly de-identified information for statistics, service improvement, and security. Where required by law, we maintain safeguards against re-identification, commit not to re-identify except for lawful testing of the de-identification process, and require recipients to maintain applicable protections. Information is not treated as de-identified merely because a name is removed.
Device Identifiers. Browsers, cookies, or similar tools may provide identifiers used for functionality, analytics, or advertising as described here. These identifiers are subject to applicable privacy rights when they can reasonably be linked to a person, household, or device.
Cookies. We may use first-party and third-party cookies and similar technologies for essential account and security functions, preferences, analytics, and, where used, advertising. A cookie is a small file stored by your browser. You can manage cookies through browser settings and any privacy controls provided on the Website. Blocking essential cookies may affect account and list features. We obtain consent before nonessential technologies where required by applicable law.
Analytics and Advertising Technologies. Where deployed on the Website, tools such as Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or similar technologies may receive identifiers, IP addresses, browsing events, and device information to measure traffic or advertising and personalize advertisements. Such disclosures may constitute a "sale," "sharing," or targeted advertising under applicable state law even without a monetary payment. We will provide any legally required notice, consent, and opt-out methods before engaging in the regulated activity. Browser cookie controls do not necessarily exercise every statutory opt-out right. See the rights and opt-out sections below.
First-Party and Third-Party Cookies. First-party cookies are set by KNOVA; third-party cookies are set by another company providing a function such as analytics or advertising. A third party's independent use of information is governed by its own disclosures and applicable law. Vendors processing solely on KNOVA's behalf are subject to appropriate use restrictions.
Persistent and Session Cookies. Persistent cookies remain until they expire or are deleted. Session cookies generally last for a browsing session and can support login, security, or navigation. Your browser may retain or restore some session information according to its settings. A saved provider list is associated with the account and is not necessarily deleted when browser cookies are removed.
Other Submissions and Support. We collect information you submit through feedback, forms, or support communications and use it for the purpose of the submission and the other compatible purposes described in this Policy. A content license does not authorize unrestricted use of personal information. Browsing without an account does not mean browsing without cookies, logs, or other automatic collection. Direct communications you have with a Provider outside the Platform are not controlled by KNOVA.
Activity Information. Technical logs and analytics may associate pages, provider categories, search areas, and feature interactions with a browser, device, or account. This information helps us maintain and improve relevant local search and list functionality, prevent misuse, and evaluate Website performance. Any advertising use is subject to applicable choices described in this Policy.
We may combine information you provide with Website activity, account and subscription records, and information supplied by Providers or vendors as necessary for the purposes described in this Policy. Linked identifiers and inferred preferences remain personal information where applicable law so provides.
Access to Your Information. You may use available account controls or contact support@knovalocal.com to request access, correction, or deletion of information. No account is required to make a privacy request. Rights and verification requirements depend on applicable law, as explained below.
Third-Party Services. The Website may link to independent Providers or other websites and may use vendors for analytics or advertising. Third parties acting independently may process online identifiers and browsing information under their own policies; that information may be personal information even if it does not include your name. Disclosures through KNOVA's Website remain subject to this Policy and applicable law.
Advertising providers may combine information across websites or services where permitted. You may exercise applicable opt-out or consent choices as described below. KNOVA's operational vendors and independent listed Providers have different roles and are not interchangeable under this Policy.
When you follow a Provider's link, call a Provider directly, or visit another website, that recipient's independent collection and use are governed by its own practices and applicable law, not this Policy. KNOVA does not operate those businesses. This statement does not reduce KNOVA's obligations concerning its own processing or its vendors acting on its behalf.
Security. Reasonable safeguards reduce but cannot eliminate security risks. Protect your credentials and avoid placing unnecessary sensitive information in inquiries or shared lists. KNOVA will comply with any applicable breach-notification and security obligations; use of the Website does not waive those rights.
International Users and Transfers. The Website is operated from the United States. Information may be processed in the United States and in locations where KNOVA's vendors operate, which may have different privacy protections from your home jurisdiction. Where applicable law requires a transfer mechanism or safeguard, KNOVA will use a legally permitted mechanism or obtain required consent. Merely using the Website does not waive mandatory transfer protections.
Consent and Choices. Where processing requires consent, we will request it separately and provide a means to withdraw it as required by law. Withdrawal does not affect processing already lawfully undertaken and may affect features that require the information. Providing data for an inquiry does not authorize unrelated marketing to all Subscribers.
Data Retention. We retain personal information only as reasonably necessary for the purposes described here. Account and list information is retained to provide those features while needed, subject to closure or deletion requests; inquiry information is retained as needed to facilitate requests, support users, and handle disputes; subscription records are retained for billing, accounting, tax, and legal obligations; and logs and consent records are retained for appropriate security and compliance needs. Retention depends on the type of data, the requested service, legal requirements, and legitimate dispute or fraud-prevention needs. When no longer needed, we delete or appropriately de-identify information. Routine backups may persist for their normal lifecycle with access restricted. Independent recipients may retain their own copies, as explained above.
Business Transfers. Personal information may be disclosed to advisers or prospective counterparties, subject to appropriate safeguards, and transferred in a merger, acquisition, reorganization, financing, sale of assets, bankruptcy, or similar transaction. Any transfer remains subject to applicable law and required notice or consent; it does not authorize unrelated unrestricted use.
Opting Out of Marketing. You may unsubscribe from KNOVA marketing emails using the message link or by contacting support@knovalocal.com. You may revoke consent to calls or texts through any reasonable method permitted by law, including replying STOP where supported or contacting us. We will honor email opt-outs within ten (10) business days and call or text revocations within the applicable legal deadline. Transactional, security, and legally required notices may continue. KNOVA opt-outs do not automatically reach independently acting Providers; contact the sender to opt out of its communications.
Privacy and Advertising Choices. Contact support@knovalocal.com or use any applicable Website privacy controls to exercise rights concerning sale, sharing, or targeted advertising. Where legally required, KNOVA will display the applicable opt-out links and honor recognized universal opt-out signals, including Global Privacy Control, for the browsers or accounts to which they apply. We do not treat an advertising opt-out as a request to stop sending an inquiry you deliberately direct to a Provider. We do not require an account to honor applicable privacy rights. Browser "Do Not Track" settings and legally recognized opt-out signals are not necessarily the same; KNOVA honors the signals required by applicable law.
Notice to California Residents.
This section supplements the information contained elsewhere in this Privacy Policy and applies to California residents to the extent KNOVA is subject to the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act and other applicable amendments (collectively, the “CCPA”). Terms defined in the CCPA have the same meaning when used in this section.
Sale of Data. California law defines “sale” and “sharing” broadly, and certain disclosures of personal information to advertising, analytics, or other third parties may constitute a “sale” or “sharing” even where no money is exchanged. KNOVA will provide California residents with any notice and right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information required by applicable law. KNOVA does not knowingly sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16 years of age.
Information We Collect. The categories below describe collection associated with the Platform, depending on the information you provide, features you use, and technologies deployed. Not every listed item is collected from every person. The purposes, sources, recipients, and retention criteria described in this Policy apply to the corresponding categories. We do not seek government identification numbers, medical information, biometrics, or unrelated sensitive details.

For purposes of the CCPA, personal information does not include:
- Publicly available information as defined by applicable law.
- De-identified or aggregated consumer information.
- Information excluded from the CCPA’s scope
Sources of Personal Information. We obtain the information described above from:
- You directly, including your account, inquiry, profile, subscription, list, and support submissions;
- Providers or other users when they supply information for an inquiry response, profile, or list you receive;
- Website activity, devices, cookies, logs, and other technologies described in this Policy;
- Vendors that operate payment, security, analytics, hosting, or other Platform functions; and
- Publicly available business information, where used to support a provider listing and permitted by law.
Use of Personal Information. We may use or disclose the personal information we collect for one or more of the following business purposes:
- To fulfill the reason information was provided, such as showing local Providers, delivering a selected inquiry, saving or sharing a list, or administering a subscription.
- To provide you with information, products or services that you request from us.
- To send requested service and account notices and lawful marketing communications, subject to applicable consent and opt-out rights.
- To carry out our obligations and enforce our rights arising from any contracts entered into between you and us, including for billing and collections.
- To improve our Website and present its contents to you.
- For testing, market research, analysis and product development.
- As necessary or appropriate to protect the rights, property or safety of us, our clients or others.
- To respond to law enforcement requests and as required by applicable law, court order, or governmental regulations.
- As described to you when collecting your personal information or as otherwise set forth in the CCPA.
- To evaluate or conduct a merger, divestiture, restructuring, reorganization, dissolution, or other sale or transfer of some or all of our assets, whether as a going concern or as part of bankruptcy, liquidation, or similar proceeding, in which personal information held by us is among the assets transferred.
We will provide notice and obtain consent where required before collecting additional categories or using information for materially different, unrelated, or incompatible purposes.
Disclosures of Personal Information. Vendors processing information on KNOVA's behalf receive information needed for their functions under appropriate confidentiality, security, and restricted-use terms. Independent Providers receiving your inquiry and persons receiving a list you choose to share are not necessarily KNOVA's processing vendors. Public profile disclosures, user-directed sharing, legal disclosures, and business transfers are described elsewhere in this Policy. Information is disclosed only to recipients and for purposes appropriate to the applicable interaction.
Recipient categories include:
- Operational vendors for hosting, security, payments, support, analytics, and marketing functions, and independent advertising or analytics recipients where used and legally permitted;
- Providers identified for your inquiry; recipients of lists you share; the public for public profiles or public sharing; and advisers, transaction counterparties, or authorities for the legal and business purposes described above.
Sale, Sharing, and Targeted Advertising. KNOVA does not sell private account access or private provider lists to Subscribers. This does not mean that advertising-related disclosures cannot be a statutory sale or sharing. Where the technologies described above are used for such purposes, the relevant categories may include identifiers, commercial or service-interest information, Internet activity, approximate location, and related inferences; recipients are the applicable advertising or analytics companies. Required opt-out and consent rights apply. User-directed delivery to a selected Provider or list recipient is evaluated separately under applicable law, not treated as unrestricted marketing permission.
Your Rights and Choices: The CCPA provides consumers (California residents) with specific rights regarding their personal information. This section describes your CCPA rights and explains how to exercise those rights.
Access to Specific Information and Data Portability Rights
Subject to applicable law and exceptions, you may request information about the categories, sources, purposes, disclosures, and specific personal information KNOVA maintains about you. We will provide the legally required reporting period, including a period beyond twelve months where required and applicable. After verifying a request as legally required, responsive information may include:
- The categories of personal information we collected about you.
- The categories of sources for the personal information we collected about you.
- Our business or commercial purposes for collecting, selling, or sharing the information.
- The categories of third parties with whom we share that personal information.
- The specific pieces of personal information we collected about you (also called a data portability request).
- Information about disclosures, sales, or sharing, where applicable, including:
- The categories of information sold or shared and the categories of recipients; and
- The categories disclosed for a business purpose and the categories of recipients.
Correction Rights. Subject to applicable exceptions, you have the right to request that KNOVA correct inaccurate personal information that KNOVA maintains about you, taking into account the nature of the personal information and the purposes for which KNOVA processes it.
Deletion Request Rights. You have the right to request that we delete any of your personal information that we collected from you and retained, subject to certain exceptions. Once we receive and confirm your verifiable consumer request, we will delete (and direct our service providers to delete) your personal information from our records, unless an exception applies.
We may deny your deletion request if retaining the information is necessary for us or our service providers to:
- Complete the transaction for which we collected the personal information, provide a good or service that you requested, take actions reasonably anticipated within the context of our ongoing business relationship with you, or otherwise perform our contract with you.
- Detect security incidents, protect against malicious, deceptive, fraudulent, or illegal activity, or prosecute those responsible for such activities.
- Debug products to identify and repair errors that impair existing intended functionality.
- Exercise free speech, ensure the right of another consumer to exercise their free speech rights, or exercise another right provided for by law.
- Comply with the California Electronic Communications Privacy Act (Cal. Penal Code § 1546 ).
- Engage in public or peer-reviewed scientific, historical, or statistical research in the public interest that adheres to all other applicable ethics and privacy laws, when the information’s deletion may likely render impossible or seriously impair the research’s achievement, if you previously provided informed consent.
- Enable internal uses reasonably aligned with your expectations and compatible with the context in which the information was provided, to the extent permitted by the applicable statutory exception.
- Comply with a legal obligation.
Right to Opt Out of Sale or Sharing. Where the CCPA applies to KNOVA and an activity constitutes a sale or sharing, California residents may direct KNOVA to stop that activity. KNOVA will provide and honor legally required methods, including applicable Website links and Global Privacy Control or other legally recognized preference signals. You may also contact support@knovalocal.com. No account is required. We will not require identity verification for an opt-out beyond what applicable law permits; we may request information reasonably needed to implement it. An opt-out does not prevent disclosures excluded from sale or sharing by law, including qualifying user-directed interactions.
Sensitive Personal Information. Account credentials and any precise location collected for a permitted feature are handled for account access, security, and the requested functionality. KNOVA does not seek unrelated sensitive information or use it to infer sensitive traits. To the extent KNOVA engages in processing that triggers a statutory right to limit use or disclosure, it will provide the required notice and limitation method before that processing. Applicable consent requirements also remain in effect.
Exercising Privacy Rights. To request access, correction, deletion, portability, an opt-out, or another applicable right, email support@knovalocal.com or use an applicable Website method. You need not have or create an account. KNOVA will verify only as required or permitted for the type of request and will not demand unnecessary sensitive information. Legally required opt-out links and signals supplement, rather than replace, these request methods.
You may act directly or through an authorized agent as permitted by applicable law. We may require appropriate evidence of authority and direct confirmation where legally permitted. A parent or guardian may exercise a minor's applicable rights.
Requests for access or portability may be subject to the frequency limits permitted by applicable law. For requests requiring verification, please:
- Provide sufficient information that allows us to reasonably verify you are the person about whom we collected personal information or an authorized representative.
- Describe your request with sufficient detail that allows us to properly understand, evaluate, and respond to it.
For requests requiring identity or authority verification, we cannot disclose protected information unless we can reasonably verify the requester. We use verification information only as legally permitted to process the request and maintain required compliance records. We will explain an inability to fulfill a request where required. Different rules apply to opt-out requests, which do not generally require the same verification.
Response Timing and Format. We will acknowledge and respond within the deadlines applicable to the request. For CCPA access, correction, or deletion requests, we will acknowledge receipt within ten (10) business days and respond within forty-five (45) calendar days, with a further extension of up to forty-five (45) days where permitted after explaining the reason and extension. Opt-outs and other requests may have shorter deadlines, which we will follow. Responses are provided through an account or an appropriate electronic or other requested method as required by law. We provide the legally required reporting period and a usable portable format where required, and explain a denial or limitation and any available appeal right.
We do not charge for a privacy request except to the extent a reasonable fee is permitted for a manifestly unfounded or excessive request under applicable law. We will explain the permitted basis and any applicable estimate before charging.
Non-Discrimination. KNOVA will not discriminate or retaliate against you for exercising rights provided by the CCPA. Except as permitted by applicable law, KNOVA will not, because you exercised a CCPA right, deny you goods or services; charge you different prices or rates for goods or services, including through discounts, benefits, or penalties; provide you with a different level or quality of goods or services; or suggest that you will receive a different price or rate or a different level or quality of goods or services.
Other Applicable State Privacy Rights. Depending on your residence and whether the relevant law applies to KNOVA, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a portable copy of information, and to opt out of sale, targeted advertising, or profiling for legally significant decisions, where such processing occurs. KNOVA does not use the directory to make legally significant decisions about your eligibility for housing, employment, credit, or similar benefits. Submit requests to support@knovalocal.com or an applicable Website method. Where an appeal right applies, you may appeal a denial by replying to our response or emailing that address with "Privacy Appeal" in the subject. We will respond within the applicable deadline and provide information about complaints to the appropriate state authority when required. KNOVA will honor legally required universal opt-out signals and will not unlawfully discriminate for exercising privacy rights.
Changes to This Policy. We may update this Policy and its date as practices or legal requirements change. Updates apply prospectively. We will provide conspicuous advance notice of material changes and obtain consent where required before materially different processing. A policy posting alone does not authorize retroactive incompatible use of previously collected information.
Questions About This Policy. Questions about this privacy policy or KNOVA’s privacy practices should be directed to support@knovalocal.com.
